Annapurna is an enormous Himalayan massif, the tenth highest mountain in the world. In 1950, it became the first 8,000 meter mountain to be successfully climbed. It is located east of a great gorge cut through the Himalaya by the Kali Gandaki river. The mountain has glaciers on its western and northwestern slopes which drain into this gorge.
Astonishing altitude variations and ecological diversity make this area flow over with natural beauty. You will cross- sacred valleys surrounded by enormous peaks. For thousand of years, many people from diverse ethnic backgrounds have carved a lifestyle out of its steep terraces and barren plateaus. Moreover, the excellent habitat for a wide variety of plants and animals reflect the region's biological diversity.
